2010 Olympic Games Luge Events

The 2010 Winter Olympic Games feature eighty six sports events. Luge is one such hugely popular Olympics event. Since 1964 Winter Olympics, the exciting Olympic Games Luge Events have been included and immensely enjoyed by sports lovers. The immensely adored Luge Event features both men as well as women single event along with double event.

Mighty Germans have dominated the Olympic Games Luge Events with 65 Olympic medals in 36 events. On February 12, 1883, two athletes, Peter Minsch from Switzerland and George Robertson from Australia were tied at first place, which was known as “The Great International Sled Race.” Both of them slide down successfully a four km track at 9 minutes and 15 seconds. With the passage of time, Olympic Games Luge Events have become faster. Now, the usual speed of Luge Events is 140 kms an hour.

Luge is originated from the French word and it means sled. The single event of Luge mainly comprised of four heats that will go on for two days. Winner of the Luge Event is the one who has lowest time. Both the men and women participate on the same track. The newly opened Whistler Sliding Center will host the

2010 Olympic Games Luge Events.
